2001
This year has been an expensive one for the group. We had to have a new roof fitted. With metal Sheets this time.  Webcox fitted it at a cost of approx £ 4,500. Membership stands at 120 and this years fees are £21.00 per person.  All sections working well.  The Cubs have visited Osmington Bay and the Scout Troop had an unforgettable trip to Canada as guests of Burnaby Scouts in Vancouver. One week was spent with families , where as much sightseeing was done as possible and one week in camp on the shores of a beautiful lake.  Unfortunately the outbreak of Foot and Mouth has curtailed some outside activities this year.  Henry Elliott retired in November after 21 years service.
Another highlight was a visit to Calne by the Queen in December, Scout Ryan Lovelock and G.S.L Audrey Lucas were lucky to be invited to be at the Town Hall where Her Majesty visited a exhibition of local organisations. We had a display covering all sections of the Group.  Also in December we attended the Guide and Brownie Christingle Service. Steve Chandler our County Commissioner together with the District Commissioner Roy Stovell presented Audrey and Geoff Lucas each with the `Medal Of Merit'
We are still operating the Christmas Card Delivery Service very successfully.

Mrs Frazer our District President cut a cake made for us by Eileen Webb and Paula Morgan. During the service Di and Henry Elliott were each presented with the `Chief Scouts Commendation for Good Service. It was a lovely day. Caroline and Simon Lonsdale have joined us as Leaders . Simon is stationed at RAF Lyneham.  Caroline is with Tuesday night cubs and Simon with the Troop.  We are experiencing a big change in the Movement this year, with a new uniform for all sections including Leaders. Also a new Training Programme for all sections with new badges , the Beavers are included in this which is great news.  A new age range in the Scout Troop is for 14 yrs to 18 yrs called the Explorer Section, they are District run so no longer under the jurisdiction of the group. The 18 to 25 year olds are now called Scout Network and they are County organised. Venture Scouts are gradually being phased out.  We have held our usual Fund Raising events. Cake Stall, Rummage Sales, Car washing, and various catering events . We need to change the Mini Bus in the not to Distant future.  All sections have been very busy this year . Cubs camped in June near Chippenham and the Scouts held some Training weekends for the younger ones.  The Group Gets their own Web Site.
